.jpg) These days several anniversaries are celebrated at once:
- 01.01.2019 marks 130 years of Concern Dräger, Germany. Dräger is an international company that is represented in more than 190 countries on five continents.
- 65 years of patenting the first in the world “breathing tube Dräger” in 1953, which was an innovative technological breakthrough in the industry. Since then, the Concern has paid special attention to the detection of alcohol from the air exhaled by a person, narcotic and psychotropic substances in the human body and has become one of the largest suppliers of relevant diagnostic equipment in the world.
- 30 years of the first in the world electronic professional portable device Dräger Alcotest 7410 for measuring alcohol in exhaled air in 1988 are performed. This model has served its owners for many years and laid the highest quality standard.
- It is 20 years since the beginning of the implementation of Dräger Alcotest in the units of road patrol services of Ukraine in 1998.
It is hard to imagine, but even today the Dräger Alcotest 7410 model has been working diligently at a number of enterprises in Ukraine, having a period of continuous use of more than 20 years!
Here we offer an article that was published 20 years ago, but stays relevant even today.
From the archive. “FOR SAFETY OF MOVEMENT. As you know, one of the reasons for the high level of road traffic accidents on the streets of settlements in Ukraine is driving vehicles while intoxicated. In the current year {1998, ed.}, Through the fault of drunk drivers, there were 2,554 accidents, in which 399 people were killed and 3298 were injured.
According to the current legislation of Ukraine, the commitment of any administrative offense, and even more so the management of vehicles in a state of intoxication, is determined by the circumstance that aggravates responsibility. In this regard, it is extremely important to use special technical means to quickly and accurately establish the state of intoxication of the offender.
In accordance with the current instruction approved by the General Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health Protection and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine of February 24, 1995 No. 114/38 / 15-36-1824, to establish the state of intoxication of drivers, use “soberness control” tubes.
But, as practice shows, this technical device has certain disadvantages. Its faults reach 25% and it is not very convenient to use. The tubes do not provide an opportunity to determine the amount of alcohol in the body without delivering the person who is being tested to a special medical institution. Therefore, the use of indicator tubes for this purpose lags far behind the level of scientific and technological progress in the world.
Similar, but more advanced indicator tubes, until recently, were in service of the police in Germany and a number of other foreign countries.
But an incredibly rapid growth in the number of vehicles on highways, high traffic intensity and the resulting exacerbation of the operational situation on the roads forced the German police to turn to the world famous concern DREGER with a proposal to create a convenient and accurate instrument for analyzing the amount of alcohol in human body.
In the early 80s, DREGER developed the Alcotest - 7410. The experience of many countries, such as the USA, Canada, Germany, Russia and Slovakia, has shown that this device is an effective and reliable measuring instrument and therefore is successfully used in the work of traffic safety services. Moreover, in these countries it is recognized by the legal authorities.
What are the advantages of this device over the indicator tubes? Firstly, it has the ability to obtain reliable operational data directly at the site of the analysis and excludes any falsification of the results both from the person who is tested and from the staff who conduct the test. It is essential in case of accidents resulting in people suffered. Secondly, the device is equipped with the world's best electrochemical sensor. Even well-known US firms buy them in Germany. It is calibrated every six months. The sensor is very insensitive to other substances in the exhaled air. For example, the presence of acetone does not affect the measurement results. it also has the ability to keep records of the work of employees of relevant departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the fight against drunkenness of drivers.
The service life of the device - 6-10 years when used in the field. Alcotest can even be used in absolute darkness, as its display is backlit.
The device is very convenient and easy to use. It does not require maintenance. But, to guarantee its continuous and long-term work, the DREGER concern offers a full service control, which includes replacement of the sensor, as well as provision of spare parts. The concern service center is open in Ukraine.
The device has been certified in the State Standard of Ukraine (certificate No. 139 dated 10/09/1997) and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (registration certificate No. 649/98 dated 07/01/1998), as well as in many countries around the world.
It is worth saying that DREGER concern has long-standing business relations with such well-known enterprises in Ukraine as Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works (Mariupol), Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, Odessa Priport Works, and Stirol Concern (Gorlovka ), Dneprodzerzhinsk Metallurgical Plant, Manganese Mining and Processing Plant, Zaporizhzhya NPP and many others.
