In the reconstruction of Ukrainian airports that played host at the European Football Championship in 2012, Saturn® Data International Company, as the official representative of German company INDUSTRONIC in Ukraine, has introduced up-to-date intercom selective systems. It won the first place at project competition KCC 2011-2012 in the nomination «The best project for the construction of operative-dispatch and loud-speaking communication system».
INDUSTRONIC is a leading world-famed manufacturer of industrial operative-dispatch and loud-speaking communication systems.
INDUSTRONIC was founded in 1964. In 1979 in Bestenheid, Germany was opened the plant. Assurance of high-quality communication in chemically corrosive and explosive environment, in wide range of operating temperatures and noise level - is the main distinguishing feature of INDUSTRONIC equipment.
Equipment produced by INDUSTRONIC is in use with leading companies in Europe, Asia and USA in various industries, amongst which there are: BASF, Bayer, Royal Dutch Shell, ThyssenKrupp Stahl, Rostov NPP, Kalinin NPP, Makeyevka Steel Works, Krymski Titan, Karpatnaftochim-Lukor, Severodonetsk Azot, ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog, Lisichansk oil refinery, Enakievo Steel Works, Novolipetsk Steel Works, Oskol Electric Steel Works, Vyksa Steel Works, Belarusian Steel Works, Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works, Samara Steel Works, Red October Volgograd Steel Works, Norilsk Nickel, international airports: «Sheremetyevo», «Domodedovo», «Kazan»,«Khrabrovo» (Kaliningrad), «Nizhny Novgorod», «Vnukovo», airports: Nizhnevartovsk, Chisinau,«Sochi» and many others.
Air gateway of the country
In order to carry out Euro-2012 in Ukraine successfully, it was necessary to upgrade all airports in so far as to increase terminals capacity dozens of times. Specialists of Saturn® Data International Company appointed the task of developing and implementing selector intercom systems at international airports «Kharkov», «Donetsk», «Kiev» and «Lvov». It was decided to build at the first three sites digital loud-speaking systems that could provide easy linking with previously installed and successfully employed equipment. For «Lvov» airport, which was built «rom scratch», there was no need to be bound to previously implemented systems. Therefore, in this project the customer decided to implement up-to-date IP-system of loud speaking and dispatching communication.
Necessary technical constituents for all Euro-2012 international airports may be presented as a list of tasks:
- implementation of operative-dispatch communication with all services and sites (air terminal, apron, airport square, office buildings, etc.);
- implementation of emergency warning system for rapid information of airport ground services about emergency situation;
- construction of loud-speaking searching communication throughout the territory;
- implementation of direct loud-speaking communication between all sites;
- access to internal users and urban telephone network;
- implementation of informational loud-speaking network;
- continuous monitoring of all connected terminals;
- recording of conversations in operative-dispatch and loud-speaking communication system.
Based on INDUSTRONIC equipment the intelligent multi-level sound airport system was built. It allows you easily manage the delivery of messages to different areas, facilitates the work of operators and increases the comfort for passengers.
The central module of INDUSTRONIC operative-dispatch and loud-speaking communication system is centralized communication system INTRON-D plus, which connects terminals of subscriber's units. Although this development had been designed for industrial communication and loud-speaking alarming, it has additional ability of connecting to all other existing types of analog and digital communication systems. Thus, INTRON-D plus provides access of subscribers both to internal and urbane telephone network. At this point inter-calls are being recorded.
INTRON-D plus stationary system provides two-way simplex and duplex communication, multi- and general calls, light and sound indication of calls and busy subscriber indication. An important function of the system is aloud alerting, both of general and a specific group. It may be done either manually or automatically, when you need to broadcast pre-recorded announcements.
Important constituent parts of the system are external communication devices and desktop dispatcher consoles. Airports - are huge open areas with high level of noise and dust. For such operating conditions in the projects were applied special digital all-weather interphone stations series DA 004 (Fig. 1) and DX 013 - explosion-proof (Figure 2), which may be installed outdoors and operate in a wide temperature range. These devices have modular design, built-in microphone with electronic noise compensation and dynamic compression. They are also equipped with flashing lights to attract attention.

In Kiev, Kharkov and Donetsk, where under the projects digital alert and loud-speaking communication systems were implemented, installed desktop digital dispatch consoles series DT (Fig. 3). They are designed for use at dispatcher posts, control posts, control-measuring station, etc. In typical configuration of the device there are 16 keys of direct calls, if needed this number may be increased to 112. Keys are protected from external influence by membrane film and have the fields for inscriptions.
DT series console is also equipped with LED alarm signaling and subscriber’s busy line status. It has noise-suppressing microphones and may be equipped with rocker switch instead of buttons, preferred by certain groups of customers.
At «Lvov» airport Saturn® Data International Company has introduced one of the latest INDUSTRONIC developments - IP-protocol based system. Tasks are fulfilled by connecting dispatcher IP-consoles and telephones to a switch board (Fig. 4).
IP-control has a standard connection to local network via Ethernet and is compatible with standard EN54-16. IP-solution makes it possible to provide greater control over various levels.
It is worthy to mention emergency call columns (Fig. 5), which may be used in emergency situations for communication with fast response services. Such columns were installed at Lvov airport halls. They also may be used at railway stations, market places and other social facilities.
Successful implementation of INDUSTRONIC operative-dispatch and loud-speaking communication system at four Euro 2012 sites has become possible owing to effective interaction, qualification and experience of executors, vendors and partners, in particular, specialists of Saturn® Data International Company.
